WBNM Engine
A stripped down and speed optimized version of WBNM, allowing wbnm to be used nationally and internationally as a highly capable hydrology engine and as the core engine underpinning ensemble and monte-carlo design flood estimation
In summary wbnm_eng.exe is a stripped down and speed optimised version of wnnm2012, recoded to meet the Fortran 2003/2008 standard but limited to the simulation of storms input as hyetographs only.
This has been done as the first step in a process aimed at allowing wbnm to be used nationally and internationally as a highly capable hydrology engine and as the core engine underpinning ensemble and monte-carlo design flood estimation in accord with the requirements of Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2016.
The underlying Fortran 2003 code is compatible with, and has been compiled for, Windows in both a 64-bit and 32-bit format and Linux(Ubuntu) in 32- and 64-bit format.
By removing the Australian (design) hydrology procedures from the earlier 2012 model so that it is applicable internationally and providing the engine with a simple call interface it is hoped that users will be encouraged to embed the engine (with proper acknowledgment) in a wide range of applications.

WBNM
WBNM2023 is an upgraded extension of WBNM2022, with further improved functionality to support simulation of design storms in accordance with the provisions of Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019 (ARR 2019).
Principally, WBNM 2023 is an extended version of WBNM 2022 with further improved functionality to support simulation of design storms in accordance with the provisions of Australian Rainfall and Runoff 2019 (ARR 2019).
The 2023 version includes some updated Python scripts to assist with viewing model results. A training webinar offering an introduction to WBNM has been uploaded to the WBNM website for all to download and view at their convenience. This provides a one-hour overview of where WBNM came from, what it does and how to download it.
Details of these and many other changes are described in the downloadable Version_Control file and Experienced User Notes.
WBNM_GUI
A Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been developed to allow users to graphically construct a WBNM model. The GUI allows users to open, build and run all WBNM software from the GUI as well as import and analyse the results.
A Graphical User Interface (GUI) has been developed to allow users to graphically construct a WBNM model. The GUI allows users to open, build and run all WBNM software from the GUI as well as import and analyse the results.
The GUI facilitates the opening of model files, which can be particularly helpful with larger models having many subareas. Access to other WBNM apps (such as the formatting and checking apps) is readily catered for in the GUI menu system. The charting of model results assists the user in analysing the often complex amount of data created by the ARR design flood estimation procedure. Recorded storms are also facilitated by the GUI.
